cat's outta the bag now...
Well, since its all over FB and we've told our families and friends...
I am pregnant!!! We are ecstatic! We were not planning on having a baby right away after the wedding, but its all in God plan and we are overjoyed! Its like a honeymoon miracle!
I don't think I have shared this before or not, but I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) in 2010. PCOS causes infertility and many other things like weight gain-ugh!... so I was basically told that it would be hard for me to get pregnant. Tons of women with PCOS go through months upon months, sometimes a few years trying to conceive. SO, having done my research and having talked with my doctors, i was prepared for what I thought would be a long journey to have children. I had pretty much accepted that I would have a harder time than most and it might take more then most.
Well, being pregnant now defies everything I was ever told about PCOS. It happened for us, naturally! No fertility treatments, no months upon months of trying... no testing to make sure my parts were fine and his parts were fine.. not even a reproductive endocrinologist (which would have been step one)..... so we are beyond blessed! We are just SO SO happy and our families and friends are SO happy and its like everything in our lives is falling into place just like we had always dreamed about.
Everyone 'assumes' that you are pregnant right after you get married anyways. I mean I dont know HOW many times I was asked about having babies within like days after our wedding day and even before or wedding day! Everyone wants to know when you will have kids.
So, we had an amazing time on our honeymoon, didn't over-think any of it, just had fun! In mid-June I thought I was pregnant (turns out I was at that time) so I took a home pregnancy test and it came up negative. I thought, okay, I guess I am not... then July 1st rolled around and I hadn't had a cycle since May 3rd.... Which is "normal" for PCOS. somtimes you go months without having a cycle, because the horomones are all screwy. Anyways, I tested on July 1st just to check, and to my shock and surprise, there it was... 2 lines! The 'pregnant' line showed up bold and dark right away! and then the control line showed up... so I was thinking, WOW! Well, one test wasnt enough, I went out and bough a pack that had one line test and one digital test in it. I took the line test when we got home and again, right away, a blue plus sign popped up! so then i was more convinced but still wanted to take the digital test as those are supposedly more reliable... so the next morning, first thing in the AM, I took the digital and before i knew it, the word in plain old english popped up on the little screen... Pregnant.
So, of course me and my husband were excited and eager to find out how far along I was and all that jazz... i scheduled a doctors appointment and they said that if 3 home tests said I was, I most likely was! but the blood test confirmed it and they said I was 6 weeks!!!!! So all along, when I thought I was.. I was right!
Fast Forward to this past friday. I had my frist appt with the OB, I had my first ultrasound and we saw our little miracle on the screen and it was simply amazing! we saw the heart beating and the baby was fluttering around. Everything looked great!
As of today, I am almost 11 weeks and I am due in February! YAY!!!
SO, there it is, our big news!!! We couldn't be happier! <3
