I am 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant today! Yesterday we went to my second ultrasound. this time it was for genetics testing, which is standard for everyone now. back in the day, you only got genetics testing done if you had a family history or something was a red flag. Now, every pregnant woman gets it. They do an ultrasound, with a full bladder...cant I tell you how uncomfortable that was. I wouldn't have been surprised if i had peed my pants right then and there. But, it was all worth it. We saw our baby, the growth looked good and the heart rate was great at 170. We could see a face forming and hands forming, it was all so amazing. One thing, of many, that they do during this ultrasound is measure the amount of fluid in the back of the babies neck. If it is wihtin a certain range, that is good. If there is a bigger amount than that range, that is a red flag. It MIGHT mean something like Downs Syndrome, or trisomy 13, etc... Anyways, our babies neck fluid was perfectly fine, the low end of the normal range. That was a good thing. We got some good pictures from this ultrasound and the ultrasound tech was very nice. She seemed very caring and walked us through everything she was doing.

The next part was the doctor came in and checked up on how everything went, she did say that they would like to do an early diabetes test, as PCOS can cause you to have gestational diabetes.

The third part of our appointment was with the genetics counselor. She too was very caring and seemed very genuine. She explained everything in simple terms and made sure we understood exactly what they were looking for with all the tests. She talked to us about our family histories and any concerns we had and answered all of our questions.

The last part of my appointment was to get the blood work done. It wasn't bad, they only needed 2 tubes of blood and surprisingly my arm didn't bruise from the blood draw like it normally does. So this was very nice!

All in all everything looks great with our little baby. It is still crazy to think that I have a living being inside of me. There is another human inside of my body. It's very weird to think about. And to think that we created that life. Me and my husband, together, created a life. WOW! We are so so so blessed! We are excited, happy, joyous, feeling blessed and so much more!

Until next time <3
