getting you up to speed.
Okay first off I wanted to list the one book that has been most helpful for me in the wedding planning process. It is: The Knot Book of Wedding Lists. My fiance got me this book as a surprise gift and I am so happy he did. It has lots of great info and checklists so you can visually see what you have accomplished and what you still need to do. To go along with this, theknot.com has also been amazing helpful. I get emails from them all the time and they have lots of great tools to use during your planning. This is also where we made our wedding website from, so now our guests can get all the info they need about our big day right from our own personalized website.
Secondly, I just wanted to list out the things we have done so far. since I started this blog about 6 months after our engagement, I have done a lot of things already and as much as i would love to write about them all individually, that would take a long time. So here it goes, I will list the things we have done as far as planning to this date:
-Got Engaged! ((duhh-hehe))
-Set a date.
-picked our wedding party (4 girls & 4 guys and no flower girls or ring bearer)
-picked our wedding colors (Navy Blue & Fuchsia)
-Looked at a reception site and chose it, started communications with the owner- planning on signing a contract in October-ish.
-got info from the church, met with them and then gave them a deposit.
-picked a DJ service, started communication & got a contract.
-picked a flower shop, met with them & gave a deposit.
-picked a rental service, got info, started communication & need to give a deposit.
-picked a photographer, started communication & need to pick a photo package & give a deposit.
-started communications with a videographer, but we need to decide if we want this or not.
-picked a catering company (well my parents will be doing the food) & started brainstorming meal ideas
-picked a cake baker (my parents bakery) & started brainstorming cake ideas.
-picked a Moscato wine for our wedding day toast
-bought and printed save the dates - now we need to buy the stamps and send them out.
-made a guest list and gathered addresses-we are at about 175 people.
-went to xmas tree shops and bought a bunch of decoration type things
-designed and ordered our favors- 2 varieties.
-found an online florist to order wholesale flowers from to make our own centerpieces
-bought 2 walmart stores completely out of glass vases for our centerpieces.
-decided on wedding day attire for the guys and girls
-went dress shopping once and will go again in a week-we are close to Saying Yes to The Dress!
-decided on where we want to register for gifts- now we actually have to go and do it.
-decided on a honeymoon- now we have to go and book it.
-and last but definitely not least: we went and picked out our wedding bands, put them on layaway and have been making payments on them! YAY!
Okay, that is a much longer list than I had first thought it'd be but I think that is everything. Those are all the things we have done up until this point. So we are on the right track and we are in good standing right now, which I am super happy about! We just need to stay on this track and then it will be less stressful when it gets closer to the time. I will try to list some of the companies we are using in my next post. until next time!
