mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is one of those words that you don't forget. It is a word that I have heard before but to be honest, I couldn't tell you what it meant off hand besides that I knew it was something medical as I remember it from commercials on the TV.

"Malignant mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the thin layer of cells lining the body's internal organs, known as the mesothelium. There are three recognized types of mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma is the most common form of the disease, accounting for roughly 70% of cases, and occurs in the lining of the lung known as the pleura. Peritoneal mesothelioma occurs in the lining of the abdominal cavity, known as the peritoneum and pericardial mesothelioma originates in the pericardium, which lines the heart.
An individual may be at risk to develop mesothelioma if he or she was exposed to asbestos in the workplace or at home. Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos and the inhalation of asbestos particles."

Mesothelioma is cancer, and I would not have readily known that without looking it up. Cancer is shitty. Too many good people get cancer. But, from this shitty thing called caner, we can grow and learn and thrive. Cancer doesn't have to define people. Cancer is a journey that many people go through and many, like Heahter, come thru their journey and are then able spread hope!

So who's Heather? Well, I was recently contacted by a woman named Heather. She commented on a post and mentioned that she had a question. At first I was like: WHOA, someone found my blog!!! and then I was like: I wonder what she wants?! So I emailed her, and come to find out, Heather has an AMAZING story. Heather's story is inspirational and I was very intrigued when I watched her video.
I am sharing her video here because as a new mother myself, I cannot imagine how she felt being a new mother and going through her Mesothelioma journey.

You can view Heather's video here.

As women and mothers, I believe it is important to lock arms and spread a message of hope. Like I often sign my blog, Love and Light!

Heather is now on my list of Cancer Warriors that I know and keep in my thoughts because all of the Cancer Warriors that I know are positive and outgoing and spread good vibes even after they have been through such tough times. I am grateful for the new knowledge I have gained and I feel good spreading this knowledge to others because knowledge is power!

Until next time, LOVE && LIGHT!
