Black Friday

Today is the day known as "Black Friday"...the biggest shopping day of the year (or at least it seems so to me) when there are unbeatable deals and people wake at all hours of the night and early morning to get to a store and buy whatever it is that may be on sale. People wait for days in line to be the first ones in once those doors open...seems crazy right?! Well, the past couple of years we were those people that got up at 2am or 3am to go to a store or mall and try to get those amazing deals...but not this year.
We did not do any crazy Black Friday shopping this year for a few reasons, 1=my fiance had to work the overnight shift, so obviously we couldn't go out at 3am...2=we did not have any big purchases we needed/wanted to make. there wasn't anything we were looking for this year that we wanted to get on a good sale 3=even if we were able to go out, and we were looking for something on sale, we truly dont have the money to be spending on big purchases because we are saving for the wedding.
So, although we did not go out in the wee hours of the morning, we did go to one of the big malls in our area, and we got there in the afternoon maybe around 2:30pm and it was SO busy! we went around the parking lots a few times until we finally found parking. May I add that people drive like its the end of the world when it is busy and there is limited parking available.
We went out to eat, which was really nice because we had not been out to eat just the two of us in, ages! I cant even remember the last time. so we had a nice lunch at a nice restaurant and then the shopping began!
We walked the entire mall and went in to a bunch of store and saw lots of great things and there were some good sales...and we ended up buying a few things each so it was a fairly successful shopping day!
I was very happy with what we got, and Christmas shopping and being in the mall with all the decorations gets me even more into the spirit of the season. As If I am not into it enough already?! haha!

Anyways, we were in the Hallmark store and there was something really nice that I saw that I may try to recreate myself for our wedding, or I may end up buying it or something similar. It was a Wish Jar for the Bride and Groom! A ceramic jar with a pretty design on it and a pouch attached that had small blank cards in it. The idea is that you can use this in addition to or instead of a guestbook...each guest can take one of the little cards and write down their wishes for the bride and groom and then put the filled out card into the jar. Then, after the wedding at some point once things settle down, the Bride and Groom can open the jar and go thru all the cards and see what peoples wishes are for them. How cute is that?! I love that idea!
I saw something similar to this where it was 4x6 notecards and each guest filled out their wishes for the newlyweds and then the bride and groom could put the cards into a photo album or a scrapbook or something so they had a book of wishes from their loved ones. Either idea is great! I think we may need to create or buy something like this for our wedding because I like it so much!
Okay, that is my spew of thoughts for now. I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! <3
