Day 2...

May I just point out that I am starting this blog post before checking my Facebook account! I'd say that commitment people! ((haha))

Okay, so today, as I am eating my HoneyStung Drummies which are oh so delicious I will tell you about our Save The Dates!
I would consider myself a "Do It Yourself" Bride, so when thinking about Save The Date cards I knew I wanted to design and print them myself at home. I also knew that I wanted to do magnets because lets face it, if it is just a piece of cardstock, it will most likely end up in trash at some point. With a magnet, people will stick it on their fridge and keep it there until they decide it isn't useful or they just don't like looking at your face everyday. ((haha))
So, there we went to Michael's craft store and in the wedding section I found exactly what I was looking for. Printable Save The Date Magnets!!!!! I was psyched! These particular printable save the date magnets are made my a company called Gartner Studios and on their website they have a section where you can download the template for these save the date magnets, so this my friends made it even easier for me to design our own save the dates without having to worry about "going outside the lines" This was another thing I was happy about.
I went to the website www.gartnerstudios.com and I download the appropriate template and I began designing. After a few different ideas and pictures, etc. I came up with The One! It has a picture of myself and my fiance and it says of course, 'Save The Date' in nice big letters across the top and then it says: 'Join us in celebrating our marriage', and it has our wedding date underneath that and then at the bottom it reads 'Formal Invitation to Follow'
Once I got the design all set, then I needed to print and it dawned on me that I wouldn't be able to put the whole stack of magnets in the printer tray at once because, duh they are magnets and they stick together. So picture me with a stack of magnets teetering on the printer, one hand loading a magnet at a time into the tray and the other hand catching the printed one and laying it to dry, and doing this all in a timely fashion so that the printer doesn't stop and that annoying message pops up that says No paper, please load the paper..yeah yeah yeah i get it, so I had to be kinda fast with this whole thing.
Needless to say, after much time and effort they finally printed and they were to my liking so I was happy!
After I let the ink dry, I stuffed the magnets into the provided envelopes and put address labels on each envelope and now, they are sitting here in a stack waiting to be taken to the post office for what I am sure will be an expensive trip!
I just thought of this, when I say magnets I mean these things are paper thin, so that they are able to go thru the printer with ease, but I tested one on our fridge and it sticks on and holds wonderfully!
Also, for address labels I used Avery White Address Labels (easy peel-not like it matters) and they have a vast array of products that can be found at www.avery.com

So, dearest blog readers, I think that is the whole story about our Save The Dates!!! As much as time and effort went into them, I am truly happy with how they came out and I am so very happy that I did it all myself because it did save us money!
We are headed to Philly on Wednesday night, so I will try to post again tomorrow but I may or may not be going crazy trying to pack, so if not tomorrow I will blog from the road!
